Faculty of Business honours Eight Outstanding Alumni
Faculty of Business (FB) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University presented its inaugural outstanding alumni awards to eight graduates at its grand Homecoming Day on 7 October 2017. This is the first FB reunion for alumni of different programmes and different cohorts that have graduated over the past four decades. Since providing accounting, business and management education in 1972, FB has sent forth nearly 47,000 graduates to serve Hong Kong and beyond in diverse industries and across different sectors.
FB newly launched the Outstanding Alumni Award and Outstanding Young Alumni Award this year to recognize the graduates that excel in professional achievements, as well as contributions to society and their alma mater. To be presented triennially, the FB Outstanding Alumni Award is for graduates aged 40 or above, while the other category is for graduates aged below 40.
This year's eight recipients were presented with the awards at the grand reunion dinner attended by over 250 alumni. The awardees are (in alphabetical order of their last names):
Outstanding Alumni Award
Ms Wai Yin Winnie CHIU
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Hong Kong Police Force

Ms Chiu is the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Management. She is the first female deputy police commissioner in Hong Kong.
Ms Chiu joined the Hong Kong Police Force as an Inspector in 1983. She has served in a wide spectrum of posts encompassing criminal intelligence, narcotics, international liaison, personnel, training, divisional, district and regional command as well as operations and management policy and support. She won the Hong Kong Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 2010 and the Hong Kong Police Medal for Distinguished Service in 2017.
Dr Mun Yee Stella KWAN
Managing Director, Ngong Ping 360 Limited

Dr Kwan has been Managing Director of Ngong Ping 360 Limited since September 2014. Under her leadership, the company has been recognized three times as one of the 10 most amazing cable car experiences in the world. She has held senior management positions with major international corporations including the MTR Corporation, Jardine Matheson and Swire Pacific, and has helped to establish brands and businesses such as IKEA, Marathon Sports, Dymocks Booksellers and MTR Malls.
Dr Kwan is currently Chair of the VTC’s Retail Trade Training Board, Member of the VTC's Audit Committee, a Founding Director and Chair of the Tourism Committee of the Lantau Development Alliance, a Committee Member of the Retail and Tourism Committee of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce and an Executive Committee Member of the Hong Kong Advertisers Association.
She was recently named an Honorary Fellow of the VTC and Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Marketing.
Mr Chi Ming Leo LEE
Managing Partner, Benington Capital Limited

Mr Lee is currently Global Deputy President of ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) and Managing Partner of Benington Capital Limited. He had been the Director of Finance and Administration, Director of Corporate Planning, and Director of Licensing of the Securities and Futures Commission. In his position as head of licensing, Lee was instrumental in revamping the licensing regime for securities and futures intermediaries in Hong Kong.
Mr Lee served on the examination committees of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited and Hong Kong Securities Institute. He was also advisor to PolyU's School of Accounting and Finance and PolyU's College of Professional and Continuing Education.
Dr Lai Wah Miranda LOU
Executive Vice President, PolyU

Dr Lou is Executive Vice President of PolyU. She has over 20 years of strategic, business and functional management experience gained through working with the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC), The Wharf (Holdings) Limited, and Orient Overseas Container Line Limited (OOCL Group).
Dr Lou is currently member of the Hong Kong Housing Authority, panel member of the Insurance Appeals Tribunal and member of the Logistics Management Committee of The Hong Kong Management Association. She has also served as committee/board member of various government advisory committees and industry associations, including the Logistics Industry Training Advisory Committee, the Vocational Training Council, the Hong Kong R&D Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain Management Enabling Technologies, the Hong Kong Liner Shipping Association and the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce.
Mr Chunlin WANG
Chairman, China League International (Group) Ltd.

Mr Wang is Founder and Chairman of China League International (Group) Ltd. He is also senior advisor, consultant and INED (Independent Non-Executive Director) to quite a number of internationally renowned companies based in China, Hong Kong, Japan and Norway. He has profound knowledge and experience in the main shipping sectors of dry bulk, container and tanker in relation to ship chartering, operation, managing and leasing as well as in port investment and operation.
Mr Wang is a member of Advisory Committee of PBS.
Outstanding Young Alumni Award
Ms Wing Chi Annie AU

Miss Au is presently the No. 1 woman squash player in Hong Kong and No. 10 woman player in the world. She was the first Hong Kong player to become the champion in Asian Championships in 2013.
She helps promote squash by sharing her story through the media and at sports events. She makes donations to charities, sponsors the development of visually impaired children and volunteers to visit the needy. She also supports the development of students and alumni activities.
Mr Kino LAW
CEO, K&K Property Holdings Limited; Chairman, K&K Charity

Mr Law is the Chief Executive Officer of K&K Property Holdings Limited, established in 2013. He is an active player in property development as well as land acquisitions, project design and development, sales and marketing of various residential projects in Hong Kong.
He was on the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia List in 2016. He is a believer of "giving back" and set up K&K Charity in 2015, aiming to make contributions to youth welfares and education.
Mr Wai Tung Henry NGAI
Tax Partner, KPMG

Mr Ngai is Tax Partner of KPMG and leader of R&D tax practice for the eastern and central region of KPMG China. Apart from helping foreign enterprises to manage their investment in China, he developed a comprehensive programme which has already been used for training 1,000 tax professionals.
He is actively involved in charitable work. He received the Chairman's Award from KPMG China in recognition of his contribution to the community. He serves as advisor to Shanghai United Foundation providing support for the planning and organization of a number of charitable activities.
